"Pottery art is a culture, as well as a behavior combining life and thought"- At all times, this theory has been surrounding us, seems far away from the fact that to volume-produce potteries for better profit. Consulted the origin and development of pottery, and combined the impact that multicultures brought to the teaching of pottery sculpture, this paper interprets the far-reaching influence of traditional technique of pottery sculpture to the modern pottery sculpture teaching, behind the concepts appearing inconsistent. New shaping and decoration techniques were researched in this paper, trying to promote the further development of teaching in pottery art with the interposition of new material and new concept. Consilient with the growing trend, Using of composite material is an important sign of distinguishing modern pottery sculpture art from the traditional one.Starting from the development of the shape and structure of pottery figures, the paper expatiates that the arising, development and perdition of any art form are closely related with the development of historical culture at that time. Tradition should be the foundation stone of our growth while not obstacle. The traditional techniques are profoundly influencing modern pottery art teaching. Taking a panoramic view of the history, we have to admit that those traditional techniques which produced by group and that showing humanism at that time are more vigorous and deeper than those of individual signs of today. So it is said that there is obsolete thought while no obsolete techniques. Techniques are never out of date. Like or not, followers are always there for each kind of technique.
