Abstract/Summary:
The senior travel market is a promising market group that cannot be overlooked by the travel industry. The purpose of the present research was to identify the perceptions of Chinese seniors toward travel. This study also aimed to provide useful information for the Chinese tourism industry to tailor products and services to meet the specific needs and preferences of senior travelers. Forty interviews were conducted at Beijing with senior citizens to gather their perceptions toward travel. Data was analyzed using qualitative research methods for precise interpretation of the participants' perception. The research investigated Chinese seniors travel preferences, examined how the relationships with family members influence seniors' travel decisions, identified what constraints Chinese seniors encounter when traveling, and recommended suggestions for Chinese tourism product and service providers to attract and better serve Chinese senior travelers.
