Abstract/Summary:
This study assessed whether Facebook is a facilitator of college student campus involvement. The sample consisted of students enrolled in a Recreation course at one of four public California universities. The study assessed each student's level of college student involvement with the recreation student organization on campus, their Facebook usage, and demographic information. The questionnaire used to collect data was specifically designed for this study.;Results revealed that student organizations should use Facebook and word of mouth to communicate their message. This research shows that the frequency of activity level Facebook does not matter, but the Facebook presence along with at least a low level of activity, will make a difference in event attendance. Overall, those who hear about recreation student organization events via Facebook are more involved with the recreation student organization on campus.
