Therefore, in order to expand theresearch on recreational function of green space in ecological urbancommunities,Fu XingPark,Xin Cheng Park and Song Jiang Central Park, respectively located in downtown, subures and exurb satellite town, werechosen as research objects, to investigate residents’ recreation demands, preferences, and satisfaction.Under the guidance of analysis on thosefactors, the optimizedstrategies of urban community park planning mayprovide positive suggestionfor the construction and management, as well as improvement of recreational functions, of ecological community parksand even ecological communities.Sociological research methods as questionnaires and behaviorobservation were usedto collectthe data of residents’ recreation demands, and the chi-square test and the correspondence analysis by terms of SPSSsoftware (edition17.0) were taken for statistical analysis to analyze thediversity, frame comprehensive sociological investigation and optimizationmethods for recreational demands.Simultaneously, the behavior patterns ofthe different ages and gathered crowds were identified, six main factorsand14impacts affecting perceived recreation satisfaction weredetermined. From the perspective of landscape architecture and urbandesign, recreational demands and preferences in community parks wereexplored, forresidents with different occupation, age and culture. Finally, according to the results of investigation and analysis, residents’recreationdemands and preferences were summarized, as well asthecontradiction between recreational functions and demands, in order topromote optimized strategiesas to community park planning and design. The results shows that there were obvious difference among residents, taking part in leisure activities in community parks, by terms of occupation, age and culture, and due to this kind of diversity, the residents’ recreation demands, preferences and satisfaction are also different.Furthermore, theinfluence of otherness on recreation demands and preferences are muchstronger than impacts on leisure satisfaction.Above that, the originality of this research was reflected in thefollowing three points.First of all, the methods of investigation analysisand optimization on residents recreation demandswere framed in the scaleof community park,as well as comprehensive method of quantitativedescription and quantitative analysis by terms of open questionnaire, closequestionnaire andLikert scale. Moreover, from the view of career interests, occupations of residents in community parks were divided into differentcategories, and the relation among career diversity and recreationaldemands and preferences were explored, which was accorded withprinciples in leisure psychology.Last but not the least, three communityparkswere chosen according to urbanization and the geographic condition, which made it easier to carry out existing problems in communityparks, and put forward suitable strategies for optimizingplanning, designand management of community parks in Shanghai area.
