| This study presents the field of study that is jurilinguistics and illustrates its importance in Canadian society. We explore the various attempts that have been made with respect to the simplification of legal language. With the goal of showing the varying levels of comprehensibility of textual legal language we demonstrate how readability formulae may be used in this field. The history of the field of readability is also presented. With the use of the Henry readability formula we are able to measure the level of readability of a series of consumer legal documents.
