In a modern society with abundant resources and abundant resources,how to accurately and conveniently select appropriate reading materials has become a link that teachers and language learners attach great importance to.The advent of the readability formula allows people to more objectively understand the difficulty of reading materials,which greatly facilitates the majority of learners.At present,the development of English readability formula has become more and more mature,and the research work on the readability formula of Chinese,especially in the field of Chinese as a foreign language,is still rare.Based on the existing readability formula results and related theories,this paper explores the relevant factors affecting Chinese text reading with reference to previous research methods,aiming to establish a nationalized readability formula for foreign students of Thailand and Vietnam junior and middle-level students,and to facilitate the selection of appropriate reading materials for teachers or students.This paper reviews the research results of readability formulas at home and abroad,and explores the factors affecting the reading of Chinese texts of Thailand and Vietnam students from four levels:Chinese characters,vocabulary,sentences,grammar and texts,and found that the total number of Chinese characters,the total number of Chinese characters without recurrence,the average number of strokes without recurrence,the number of grade A words,the number of grades,the percentage of difficult words,the number of words,the total number of sentences,the total number of sentences,the average number of words,and the average number of words may affect the reading of Thailand and Vietnam students.After that,16 corpora were randomly selected from the junior middle and intermediate Chinese textbooks to complete the Cloze test.100 Thailand and Vietnam students of were selected as subjects to test.Using the test results as the dependent variable,quantification and screening the factors that may affect the reading,and finally kept 7 predictor variables.After that,SPSS22.0 was used for multiple regression analysis,and established a readability formula for Thailand and Vietnam students of junior and middle level.That is:Y=11.343+0.052X1-1.313X2-0.216X3 Y= readability score,X1= total number of Chinese characters X2= average number of strokes of non-recurring words X3= average number of words.Finally,we discuss the selection of variables and test materials,and the application and correction of the readability formula,and summarize the shortcomings of this paper.
