Abstract/Summary:
This study examined the performance among five different native language groups on the Test of English as a Foreign Language, and the further academic achievement among these groups of students. The objectives of this study were to find whether there are any differences among these students on their TOEFL scores, their first semester GPA, and their overall GPA and to determine the predictive ability of the TOEFL using first semester GPA and overall GPA as the criteria. The results showed no significant differences among the five native language groups on their TOEFL scores, their first semester GPA and their overall GPA. The study also found that TOEFL score was not a good predictor of academic achievement for foreign students.
