Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate that contemporary alternative approaches provide an effective method in influencing the development of leaders. This thesis investigates the contemporary ideas in leadership, with particular focus on whether the new leadership thinking is integrated into the existing body of knowledge and how it influences the advancement and development of leaders. In addition, the paper maintains that developing integrated leadership models is vital to leadership development and explains that a concept of an integrated leadership development framework is more applicable for addressing the needs of future leaders.;This thesis presents a literature review to present and scrutinize leadership models, theories and ideas. Based on the theoretical information, it explains how contemporary theories broaden the principles of traditional concepts. This thesis also provides an analysis of contemporary ideas on leadership with particular emphasis on how these ideas influence the development of leaders.
