The study contained in this thesis is a special education teacher's practical approach to applying social skills training within the classroom. While social skills training occurred within the class as a whole, a specific case study was performed on a single child. Various skill streaming and other educational techniques were used to help thirteen-year old Brian develop skills that would aid him socially in an academic setting. A multiple baseline design was used by the teacher. The program developed and implemented was multi-faceted and had the special education teacher act as both as a delivery facilitator and a case manager working closely with the school psychologist, school counselor and Brian's parent. The purpose of this social skills program is to help Brian acquire, develop and apply skills to everyday interaction with his peers and to help reduce the frequency of anxiety felt by him at school.
