Abstract/Summary:
This study explored school library media center scheduling in Missouri's combined K-12 schools serving their student populations with one library media center. It was conducted to determine the scheduling patterns used to schedule elementary and high schools students in the school library media center. In 88% of the responding surveyed districts, the library media specialist is being used as a release-time resource for the elementary teachers. Elementary students were being scheduled on a fixed plan in 87% of the responding districts, and elementary students were being scheduled in the school library media center every week. In contrast, 83% of the responding districts scheduled high school classes in the school library media center on a flexible schedule. Many of the high school students, however, did not have weekly library time scheduled.
