| This work considers one modification of the SR ARQ standard protocol which is used in terrestrial and satellite communications. This modification eliminates the need for a time-out mechanism and yields higher throughput with maximum improvement when the feedback channel is noisy.;The new protocol is sending an entire frame of repeated NAKs instead of "piggybacking" one NAK on a data frame as is usually performed with the standard SR ARQ protocol. The introduction of one or a few frames of repeated NAKs allows that the probability of a NAK not reaching the transmitter can be made as small as desired. The objective of this work is to analyse this technique and to evaluate its advantages and drawbacks in different types of channels.;Our evaluation of the new protocol is based on its comparison with the standard protocol and it starts by refining the models for both protocols.
