Abstract/Summary:
The dynamism of today's competitive landscape has been impelled by entrepreneurial actors that have been able to enter into the existing markets and create new markets; captivate market share to less innovative competitors, and appropriate of their competitor's customers, assets and even employees. In this context of high dynamism and complexity the creation of firm wealth has been the link coupling entrepreneurship and strategic management. Integrating this entrepreneurial view, which is shaped by the research in entrepreneurship with the strategic management is a necessary condition to create firm wealth in high uncertainty environments. Therefore, research in entrepreneurship and strategic management complement each other. This thesis situates in the intersection of entrepreneurship and strategic management fields research, intersection that is also known as strategic entrepreneurship. The aim of the thesis is to research how firm wealth is created in the initial stages of start-ups operating in high complex environments. The objectives are to identify which items form the initial base of resources for the entrepreneurial firm to create wealth and value, identify the origin of that resource base, determine how the resource base evolve over time, and identify the process of value creation. The investigation is carried out within an eclectic conceptual frame that combines the social network theory and the resource based view of the firm. The empiric research is based in the case study of Tecnologica, a Spanish aerospace start-up firm.
