Abstract/Summary:
Can a small company with limited resources provide quality in product and service? Must a company spend thousands of dollars to implement a quality system? The answers are "Yes" and "No," respectively. Using formal quality systems and award programs as a source, an informal inexpensive quality program can be implemented.; Many of the elements of ISO 9000 and the Baldrige Award can be used as the foundation for a simple working program. From the foundation, a company can build and modify as necessary to fit their particular operational structure. No two companies are alike, and consequently, no two quality programs will be identical. Given basic elements a program can be started. As experience grows, and the advantages of a controlled quality environment are realized, elements can be expanded and added as needed.; A small company can provide quality to its customers in all aspects of its service.
