Abstract/Summary:
To evaluate the effects of status quo bias and ordering of information on the perceived usefulness and ease of use of information technology, 180 students were administered a questionnaire. Each participant evaluated the ease of use and usefulness of three procedures for obtaining journal articles: the procedure they would use and two imaginary article databases. The hypothesized negative correlation between ratings of the status quo procedure and a new procedure was not found, and there was no support for the effects of information ordering on perceived usefulness and ease of use. Limitations of the study are discussed and suggestions are made for future research.
