Abstract/Summary:
Process data obtained from industrial and laboratory measurement devices invariably contain random and systematic errors owing to equipment malfunction, inaccuracies or failure. If these errors are not found and corrected in time, they could send the process adrift and lead to heavy losses, especially in the industry. In previous research at Texas A&I University, a computer program was developed to detect errors and reconcile the data.; In this study, the Modified Iterative Measurement Test (MIMT) is applied to a non-equilibrium flash distillation system using various definitions of efficiency of a flash distillation process and its performance assessed. The unmeasured variable, the flash efficiency is also estimated.; The effect of the various efficiencies on the process of error detection and data reconciliation is evaluated.
