Abstract/Summary:
Total dietary fiber (TDF) was determined for 145 food products of significance in the U.S. diet. Food selections were based upon recommendations of the USDA Human Nutrition Service (HNIS). All data were determined on the edible portions of the food and reported as % TDF (wet weight). TDF values are presented for 8 breads, 14 bakery products, 16 cereals or cereal products, 12 fruits, 51 legumes or their products, 20 vegetables or their products and for 24 miscellaneous products. Data collected in this study will be included in the USDA Provisional Table on Dietary Fiber.
