Abstract/Summary:
Most modern air-to-air and surface-to-air missile systems use a form of proportional navigation (PN) in the homing phase of the mission. The main guidance law which will be treated in this material is true proportional navigation (TPN), modified true proportional navigation (MTPN) and augmented proportional navigation (APN). The adjoint method is utilized to analyze the miss distance. In this study, the investigation of the PN scheme first discusses how and where the guidance laws above come from, and then the effects of navigation constants and acceleration capability of the missile using three guidance laws.
