Abstract/Summary:
ublic corruption deals with the misuse of public funds and has been around for decades. These public officials who use their public office for personal gain end up destroying society and, when they are eventually caught, end up destroying their career, family, and the trust of the people. These cases can be investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies including federal, state, and local agencies. Ohio, like other states, has had its share of corruption cases, with the state's largest case in its history happening in Cuyahoga County in 2008. Ohio residents have seen firsthand the devastation that corruption has done to the state. The Ohio Ethics law was enacted in 1973 to promote assurance in the government.
