To help Children's Hospitals and Clinics manage a variety of records, including but not limited to Medical Records, Business Records, Research, Lab, Pharmacy, and more, that are stored on many different forms of media. Also, to understand current systems that have been implemented, and to help prepare for e-Discovery requests a variety of tracking tools, policies, and procedures have been created. The creation of these project products required reviewing current literature, obtaining information from other hospitals throughout Minnesota and The United States, meeting with a variety of hospital departments, interviewing key department leads, documenting findings within tracking tools, and creating policies and procedures to support the effective management of all records at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. The project product will be used for many years, and as new knowledge is obtained the tools, policies, and procedures will be continuously updated. With the implementation of the project products, Children's Hospitals and Clinics will have an Enterprise Record Management plan that supports Information Governance for the organization, and will allow for proper response to e-Discovery requests, provide a positive financial impact to the healthcare organization by reducing unnecessary storage as well as reducing staff time in retrieving and locating records, as well as enhance the excellent care that all patients and customers receive at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
