Abstract/Summary:
This project explored the great need for pre-retirement planning and the need to thoroughly examine the financial and social areas of one's life if one hopes to have a successful retirement phase. The goal of this thesis project was to develop and pilot a pre-retirement planning training program that would educate individuals on the many issues related to an extended period of retirement due to an increased life expectancy. The pilot consists of recruiting five individuals, one male and four females. It consists of 3 phases; a needs analysis phase, project develop phase and focus group phase. Pre-and post-test were done. The findings were that there is a great need for a retirement manual that consist of financial, health, and long-term care modules. The present thesis project was assessments, both qualitative and quantitative analyses were completed for this project. To prepare for the pilot training session, existing training manuals on retirement preparation were reviewed. Furthermore, the researcher gathered data from the videos and retirement based books developed and a comprehensive pre-retirement planning program that addressed "gaps" in trainings done by existing counseling and intervention programs was piloted. This guide book encourages the retiree to start saving as soon as they begin working. Based on the information obtained in the focus group and participants' answers on pre-and post-. After conducting an extensive analysis of previously developed resources, the researcher reflected upon the gathered data and developed the pre-retirement training workshop with multiple modules.
