Abstract/Summary:
Engaged employees are the key to an organization's sustained competitive advantage, yet Gallup (2017) reports only 33% of the American workforce is engaged. Organizations are constantly implementing changes to achieve fleeting competitive advantages, and the success of those change efforts rely on engaged employees to buy into and carry out the change. Over half of all change efforts fail, though the field of Organizational Development has developed many well-received change models, which are proven to work. This study will explore how different leadership styles and change models effect employee engagement. It will also study the relationship between human decision-making and persuasion, recognizing that human behavior is irrational. This paper elaborates on a popular persuasion model, The Persuasion Slide (Dooley, 2013) by reframing its marketing concepts into concepts of organizational change.
