Marcuse's Critical Theory Of Technical Rationality And Its Enlightenment

At present,science and technology almost occupy the vast majority of people's life,its development not only brings about the wealth of material materials,cultural prosperity,social progress,but also slowly erode the individual person.In a society with highly developed science and technology,human subjectivity is gradually reduced,and technical rationality is transformed into a new ideology,which virtually rules people's thoughts and behaviors.Herbert marcuse as the main representative figure of Frankfurt school,early in the20 th century is aware of this change,he embarks from the criticism of social reality,for people's freedom and liberation as the ultimate foothold,nutrition absorbing forefathers thinkers of the theory,established its own unique technical rational criticism theory,for the time of the capitalist society and academic circles has extremely profound influence.Based on marcuse's thought of technical rational criticism as the theme,with technology of marcuse's rational critical thought,on the basis of the comprehension,system based on our country's present social situation,through the marcuse's thought of technical rational criticism to explore for some revelation to the development of Chinese society,the thoughts of great theoretical value and realistic significance.This paper will elaborate from six parts:Firstly,the background and significance of the topic are briefly explained,and the research status of marcuse's thought at home and abroad is further sorted out.Secondly,it expounds the historical background of marcuse's theory,and points out that the formation of his theory is inseparable from the crisis of The Times under the industrial civilization at that time,which is a theoretical criticism based on the social reality.Thirdly,through the elaboration of Marx's alienation theory,heidegger's existentialism,Hegel's rational philosophy and Freud's psychoanalysis,this paper discusses the ideological origin of marcuse's theory.Fourthly,the thesis combs the two core words of marcuse's theory: alienation and technical rationality.At the same time,it discusses marcuse's thought in detail from the aspects of his critical theory of technical rationality,such as specific expression,core dimension and way out,etc.,and clarifies the main content of his theory,which is also themain content of the whole paper.Fifthly,the critical theory of marcuse's technical rationality is evaluated objectively,and its value and limitation are analyzed dialectically.Finally,the enlightenment and significance of his thought to contemporary society are pointed out.
