The Archean Horne deposit in the Noranda,Quebec,Canada is one of the world's largest volcanic massive sulfide(VMS)deposits,which has high economic benefits.The Horne deposit has higher grades and huge storage of Au and Cu.Because of its abundant production and reserves,it has achieved important exploration significance.Its exploration also provides rich exploration experience for the discovery of gold deposits and base metals in northwest Quebec,as well as for the economic development and infrastructure construction of the Noranda area.It opened up a major promotion effect.At present,previous researches about the Horne deposit are mostly based on two-dimensional characteristics and statistical data.These researches cannot directly reflect the spatial structures and characteristics of the Horne orebody.Therefore,the software,GIS,was used in this paper to digitize the data of mining plan in different depths,boundary of the massive sulfide in drilling trajectory and pit map,and grade data of Au and Cu of the Horne deposit.Meanwhile,the database of grade attribute was established.According to the references above,the three-dimensional(3D)geological model and grade attribute model of the Horne orebody were established by Geological Object Computer Aided Design(GOCAD).According to the established model,the spatial structure of the Horne orebody was analyzed and the existence of the ancient main fault cutting the Upper and Lower Horne orebodies was further speculated.Due to the function of main fault and spatial distribution characteristics of Cu grade in the Cu attribute model,the position of hydrothermal vents of the Upper and Lower Horne orebodies and the direction of hydrothermal alteration inside the orebody were inferred.Using the Au grade attribute model of the Horne deposit and the grade data of the profile points,the Geosoft Oasis Montaj software is used to draw a profile that can reflect the change of the Au grade value,and then to explore the change of the Au grade inside the orebodies.This paper summarized the copper enrichment process of the Horne deposit,based on the Cu attribute model and alteration characteristics.Furthermore,with the help of metallogenic geological background of the Horne deposit,it further explains that the Horne deposit is a hydrothermal mineralization model of sericite-chlorite alternate alteration.
