Rock crushing is widely used in geological exploration, resource mining, tunnel excavation and other fields. However,in the process of rock crushing, the failure of the bit cutter often occurs, resulting in low construction efficiency or even shutdown.Cutting temperature is closely related to the failure of cutter.Excessive cutting temperature aggravates the formation of cutter wear, fractures and micro-cracks,which in turn causes the failure of cutter. In addition, the deep exploitation of oil and gas resources often encounters complex geological environments and often drills different rock formations such as marble and granite. Therefore, studying the rock breaking mechanism of cutter under different cutting parameters and different rock characteristics, and reducing the cutting temperature by adjusting different cutting parameters, has important practical significance for improving the service life of cutter and reducing construction costs. In this paper, the influence of cutting depth, cutting Angle and rock characteristics on rock breakage mode and cutter temperature distribution is mainly studied by combining ABAQUS simulation with micro-drilling test. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Cutting depth affects the mechanical state of the cutter by affecting the change of rock crushing mode, and then changes the temperature distribution of the cutter. The research results show that there is a critical depth d*,when the cutting depth d<d*,the rock is mainly crushed plastic fracture, and when the cutting depth d>d*,the rock is mainly shearing brittle fracture.Due to the change of rock crushing mode, the temperature of the rake surface increases firstly and then decreases with the increase of cutting depth, and the increase of cutting angle will aggravate the temperature fluctuation degree of the rake surface. The flank surface increases linearly with the increase of cutting depth.(2)Cutting angle affects the formation, particle size and fluidity of cuttings. The particle size of cuttings decreases with the increase of cutting angle, and the increase of cutting angle makes the flow of cuttings more difficult. The critical cutting angle y*results in the plastic brittle fracture transformation of rock crushing mode, which results in the temperature of the rake surface increases first and then decreases with the increase of cutting angle, and the temperature of flank surface decreases with the increase of cutting angle.Cutting angle will weaken the influence of cutting depth on the change of rock fracture mode.(3)Based on the MDES2000 micro-drilling platform,micro-drilling tests were carried out on sandstone, marble, granite and basalt. The results show that the rock characteristics affect the temperature rise rate and fluctuation degree of the cutter. The temperature rise rate and fluctuation degree of the cutting temperature on the rake and flank surface increase with the increase of the rock strength. In the process of rock crushing, the rake face of the cutter plays the main cutting role,so the influence of rock strength on temperature fluctuation is mainly reflected in the rake surface of the cutter, and the influence on the rake surface is not obvious.
