Research On The Animal Remains Unearthed From Yilin Station In Qing Dynasty In Erlianhot,Inner Mongolia

Yilin Station is located on the northwest bank of Erlian Yanchi,9 kilometers northeast of the urban area of Erlianhot City,Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.It was established in the 25 th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty(AD 1820).An important remains on the road.Based on the identification and analysis of animal remains unearthed in Yilin Station in 2017,this article found that the 10,766 animal remains unearthed can be divided into two categories: Birds and Mammals.After conducting a classification study based on the four relic units of house sites,ash pits,ash piles,and strata,the preliminary results show that the use of animal resources by Yilin Station is mainly divided into two categories,namely,food-based and labor-based type.Food-based animals include goats,sheep,domestic pigs,antelopes and domestic chickens.Among them,sheep are the main meat source of Yilin Station.In the breeding of sheep,the ancestors of Yilin Station adopted a slaughter mode that combines meat production and wool production to maximize the utilization of sheep's resources.Domestic pigs and chickens are used as a single meat supplement.At the same time,the ancestors of the post station have strict control over the age of pigs being raised and slaughtered.The appearance of the antelope reflects the use of wild animal resources by the ancestors of the post.The main type animals are domestic dogs,cattle,camels and horses.In the Yilin Station,the domestic dog has both the responsibility of defending the station and protecting the flock.At the same time,it may be used as a meat resource for the ancestors of the station to eat after death.Cattle,camels,and horses are the main force of the post,but they may still be slaughtered as meat resources by the ancestors of the post after they fall dead.In addition,the ancestors of the post station were also proficient in the techniques of making bone artifacts and used them in daily life.By referencing the animal archaeological research results of Yilin Station with related documents,it is hoped that on the one hand,it can supplement the research data of animal archaeology in the Qing Dynasty in my country,so as to fill the vacancy of my country's animal archaeology at the type of station site.On the other hand,It also supplements details such as the use of animal resources in the post and the daily life of the ancestors of the post that are rarely seen in the literature.
