Inverse emulsion polymerization is a method that make water-soluble monomer dissolved in water as the water phase,Stirring or vibration under the action of the emulsifier and dispersed in non-polar liquid formed a water in oil emulsion where polymerization took place. This method reaction rate high, the product of high solid content, molecular weight large and narrow distribution and so on.With starch and acrylamide(AM)as raw materials, using segmented initiation method and kerosene as the continuous phase were prepared by inverse emulsion polymerization of high monomer conversion starch based flocculant. The influences of the factors, such as kind and amount of emulsifier, trigger methods, initiator ratio and concentration,monomer-starch quality ratio,oil-water volume ratio and the water quality of different conductivity on the monomer conversion rate, grafting rate, grafting efficiency and polymer intrinsic viscosity were investigated.Cationic monomer concentration on cationic degree and intrinsic viscosity were also investigated. The results indicate that the optimized conditions are as follows:the mass fraction of emulsifier is 7%,trigger temperature 50? at initial stage and 65? at later period, initiator concentration 0.008 mol·L-1,monomer-starch quality ratio 1:1,oil-water volume ratio 1:1,cure water with zero conductivity, response time 5 hours. In these conditions, monomer conversion rate can reach up to 99.74%,the grafting ratio can reach up to 168.3%,grafting efficiency is 99.8%and the intrinsic viscosity is 571.3 ml·g-1.Using piecewise polymerization method, emulsifier dosage of oil phase is 7%,the initiator concentration 0.008mol/L,oil-water volume ratio 1:1,the reaction time 5h,in 2000ml flask four amplification experiments, further adjustment process.Key to discuss the control of the polymerization temperature, solve the problem of thermal polymerization,Inspect the fluctuation of raw materials and the initiator of polymerization reaction.Tests have shown that tiny fluctuation of raw material has a little influence on the graft copolymerization reaction, production feeding and the initiator of the stability is good, the process is suitable for the industrial production. In addition, through to the disposal of wastewater from kaolin, test of grafted flocculation effect, and structure were characterized by its infrared spectrometer.Experimenal results showed that the preparation of starch graft acryl-amide copolymer used as flocculant kaolin wastewater treatment, shows its good flocculation effect;Using infrared spectrum structure characterization proves that graft copolymerization reaction occurred in starch granule surface, after starch grafting acryl-amide polymerization,acryl-amide has been successfully received at corn starch chains.
