With the importance of natural gas increasing,in particularly within the Asian region, where it is forecasted to grow within China by at least 10% over the next 5 years,it is imperative that a reliable and dependable pricing hub exists within the region. The price set at this hub should be based on the fundamentals of supply and demand,be open and transparent, ensure it attracts enough participants to have a sound competitive environment and have the appropriate institutions to monitor and oversee the hub as it matures and develops. The various sections of this report will start with a background of natural gas within the region covering a brief history of natural gas while discussing and assessing the demand and supply mix within the region.Provide details and outline the major current pricing mechanisms available within the region.Followed by sound analysis of the current natural gas environment while explaining what is required to create the future trading hub within the Asia region and ultimately providing recommendations for the Chinese government to set up the Shanghai Natural gas exchange to be the future trading hub within the Asia region.
