Torpedo ladle is the core equipment for hot metal transportation from blast furnace to converter.The transportation process mainly includes two aspects:transportation of full torpedo ladle and return of empty.Although the heat transfer characteristics of full torpedo ladle have a direct impact on the temperature drop of hot metal,from the point of view of energy saving of the whole system,the thermal state of the empty stage of torpedo ladle is also very important,and the current research on this is less involved.This topic takes an empty torpedo ladle with volume of 320 tons of a company as the research object.With the help of the finite element software Fluent and the on-site thermal test data,the thermal state of torpedo ladle before and after improvement in different stages is compared by numerical calculation and analysis.It provides the corresponding theoretical and technical support for the heat preservation measures of torpedo ladle and the reasonable collocation of refractories.For baking stage of empty torpedo ladle,the baking rate can be accelerated by improving the working layer and permanent layer of torpedo ladle.After using nano or magnesium silicate insulation board to improve the permanent layer of ordinary torpedo ladle,the baking operation can be completed about 5 or 2 hours in advance.It also can be completed about 4 hours in advance when the material specific heat capacity of the working layer is improved from 1500 J·kg-1·K-1 to 200 J·kg-1·K-1.For the initial stage of empty torpedo ladle,improving the permanent layer can enhance the thermal insulation of the lining and significantly reduce the temperature of the shell.That's help to reduce the heat loss of torpedo ladle.After using nano or magnesium silicate insulation board to improve the permanent layer of ordinary torpedo ladle,the temperature of shell is reduced by about 134?or 23? in the cylindrical section of torpedo ladle shell respectively and the temperature of shell is reduced about 107? or 12? in the platform section of torpedo ladle shell,respectively.Improvement of working layer can effectively reduce the heat loss of hot metal caused by thermal storage in the lining of torpedo ladle.The heat storage capacity in the lining of torpedo ladle has been reduced by about 1.16×105 MJ,when the material specific heat capacity of the working layer is improved from 1500 J·kg-1·K-1 to 200 J·kg-1·K-1.For return stage of the empty torpedo ladle,the temperature drop of hot metal can be effectively reduced by optimizing the dispatching process of ordinary torpedo ladle.The temperature drop of hot metal can be reduced by about 19?and 31? in uncover and cover case respectively when the turnover rate of the torpedo ladle from 3 to 4 jars per day.By improving the working layer and permanent layer of torpedo ladle,the heat loss in the lining of torpedo ladle can be effective restrained.After using nano insulation board to improve the permanent layer of ordinary torpedo ladle,the heat loss of the lining is reduced by about 8.77×103 MJ and 1.02×104 MJ in uncover and cover case,respectively.The temperature drop of hot metal reducing about 42.4?and 46.4? respectively.After using magnesium silicate insulation board to improve the permanent layer of ordinary torpedo ladle,the heat loss of the lining is reduced by about 1.82×103 and 1.31×103 in uncover and cover case,respectively.The temperature drop of hot metal reducing 12.4? and 8.3? respectively.The heat loss in lining of torpedo ladle is reduced by about 8.36×103 MJ and 2.11×103 MJ in uncover and cover case respectively when the material specific heat capacity of the working layer is improved from 1500 J·kg-1·K-1 to 200 J·kg-1·K-1.Temperature drop of hot metal reducing 37.33? and 9.42?,respectively.For the direction of heat loss of torpedo ladle,the shell is the main way of heat loss,it accounts for about 58.11%.The heat loss of working layer is the main source of heat loss,it accounts for about 92.07%and 93.49%for uncover and cover cases,respectively.By improving the permanent layer of lining,the temperature of shell can be lowered,and the heat loss can be restrained from the main way of heat loss.After using nano or magnesium silicate insulation board to improve the permanent layer of ordinary torpedo ladle,the heat loss ratio of shell is reduced by about 24.62%or 13.62%,respectively.By improving the working of lining layer,the heat storage of the working layer can be reduced and the heat loss can be suppressed from the main source of heat loss.The heat loss ratio of working layer is reduced by about 42.23%and 42.03%for uncover and cover cases respectively when the material specific heat capacity of the working layer is improved from 1500 J·kg-1·K-1 to 200 J·kg-1·K-1.
