In order to meet the needs of the enterprise to detect the outer diameter of the thin wire in the process of drawing production,based on the domestic and foreign research trends and industrial measurement indicators of laser caliper,a high-precision,non-contact and non-scanning laser caliper is developed for the drawing thin wire with diameter ranging from 0.1 mm to 15 mm.In this paper,the principle of laser measuring the diameter of thin wire is discussed in detail.Using the laser triangulation method and linear CCD application technology,the overall design scheme of the laser diameter measuring instrument for thin wire drawing is proposed,which is mainly composed of hardware part and software part.Arm is the main control core of the measurement system.The hardware part mainly includes power management module,photoelectric signal processing module,main controller module,communication module and nixie tube display module;the software part mainly includes arm data processing module,nixie tube display module and communication module.The power management module converts the input voltage into the required input voltage of each module;the photoelectric signal processing module processes the optical signal collected by the system into the voltage signal required by the controller;the main controller module collects all the voltage signals and processes them to obtain the final measurement results;RS485 communication module transmits the final measurement results to the calculation Digital display module is the display of the final measurement results.The performance test of laser caliper prototype was carried out by using standard rods with different diameters of 0.100 mm,0.500 mm,1.000 mm,6.000 mm,10.000 mm and 15.000 mm.The experimental results show that the laser diameter measuring instrument using laser triangulation method and linear CCD application technology can accurately measure 0.1 mm ? 15 mm fine wire and various wire rods and the accuracy error can reach ± 3 ?m,at the same time,the data measured by the laser caliper can be transmitted to the computer for display,so as to realize real-time monitoring.Moreover,the laser caliper has the advantages of simple structure,high precision and high stability.Therefore,the laser caliper has a good application prospect.
