With the rapid development of China’s economy,society and enterprises are paying more and more attention to the disadvantaged groups such as the elderly and the disabled,and the market demand for barrier-free sanitary products is also expanding.However,the existing barrier-free sanitary products have not played their due role in eliminating obstacles,and the product has low functional value and the market is sluggish.In this paper,the value engineering is introduced into the design of barrier-free sanitary products,and the design and research are carried out with the help of its ideas and methods,in order to realize the optimal design and value enhancement of barrier-free sanitary products.The paper first analyzes the concept of barrier-free design and existing barrier-free bathroom products.Based on the psychological and behavioral characteristics of the elderly and the disabled,this paper analyzes the problems existing in the process of using the bathroom products by the elderly and the disabled,and studies the behavioral needs of the elderly and the disabled,so as to fully understand the influencing factors of the design of barrier-free sanitary products.Secondly,it introduces the theoretical concepts and basic principles of value engineering,and expounds the working procedures and methods,functional analysis and evaluation of value engineering.Thirdly,analyze the impact of the application of value engineering on the consumer market in the design of barrier-free bathroom products,and analyze the function of barrier-free bathroom products.Introduce the concepts and methods of value engineering into the design of barrier-free bathroom products.At the conceptual level,the principle of barrier-free sanitary ware design under the value engineering concept is put forward,and its core concept is integrated into the product design to make the design more in-depth,so as to meet the user’s functional requirements to the greatest extent in the case of reasonable functional cost.Maximize user,business,and social values.At the method level,the working methods and methods of value engineering are used to summarize the system methods and processes suitable for the design process of barrier-free sanitary products.The design method carries out the value activities of product design through the following four stages: information preparation stage,function analysis stage,concept stage,and evaluation stage,so as to apply to specific product design.And laid the theoretical and methodological basis for the innovative design research of the following barrier-free bathroom products.Finally,the author conducts design practice by using the product design method from the perspective of value engineering.The design of the barrier-free washbasin under the wash function partition is used as a design example to verify the correctness of the value engineering method and theoretical research.After a functional analysis of the washstand,it was found that the washstand can be improved in functional requirements.Design a barrier-free bathroom design.The function evaluation index based on the principle of barrier-free sanitary product design under the value engineering concept is proposed to evaluate the user function,enterprise and social benefit value realized by the barrier-free bathroom design.The value of the improved design of barrier-free sanitary products was determined,and the availability of value engineering theory in product design was verified.The application research of value engineering theory provides a new design method guide for the design of barrier-free sanitary products,and also provides a theoretical reference for the innovative and improved design of other products.
