China's iron ore resources show the situation of more quantity and lower grade in today's increasingly scarce resources.During the mining iron ore resources and mineral process,a large amount of solid waste-iron tailings will be lead to produce.The massive discharge of iron tailings not only wastes resources,but also occupies land,polluted soil,air and water and so on,which endangers human health and safety,as well as the growth and survival of animals and plants,resulting in imminently non-hazardous treatment of iron tailings.At present,the primary treatment measure for iron tailings is the recovery of valuable metals and minerals in tailings,the flotation method is widely used.This article intends to recover ilmenite by further flotation in the iron tailings through magnetic separation.At present,flotation collector for ilmenite are mainly single collectors such as hydroxamic acid,fatty acids and osmic acid,which not only have a large amount of consumption,but the recovery effect is not satisfactory.At the same time,at home and abroad,there are more researches on flotation separation of ilmenite and titanaugite,but less research on flotation separation of ilmenite and amphibole.How to develop a complex collector with good selectivity and good collection performance to recover by flotation ilmenite of iron tailings is the focus of this article.Pure mineral flotation test shows that the strength of the single collector on ilmenite is: MG-2> dodecylsulfonic acid> QY> HY.The strength of the compound collector made of four single collectors on ilmenite is: MG-2+QY> MG-2+sodium dodecyl sulfonate> MG-2+HY.MG-2 and QY are used for compound collector MQ,which has good selectivity and collection performance for ilmenite in the flotation system of pure mineral.In the test of the type and dosage of the inhibitor,water glass,sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and hexamethylene Sodium phosphate has a strong inhibitory effect on ilmenite and amphibole,but it has a greater effect on the recovery of ilmenite.Water glass and oxalic acid both have a certain inhibitory effect on ilmenite and amphibole,but the inhibitory effect is relatively stable,and it can ensure the high recovery of ilmenite,providing a certain basis for practical applications.The recoverable valuable resource in the actual iron tailings is ilmenite,the TFe grade is 14.86% and the TiO2 grade is 4.15% in the iron tailings sample.The TiO2 grade in the iron tailings can be ungraded to 20.12% through the process of weak magnetic—strong magnetic—grinding—strong magnetic,then the TiO2 grade can be improved through further flotation.In this paper,sulfuric acid is used as the p H adjuster,and oxalic acid is used as the inhibitor and the compound collector MQ is used as the collector.Through closed-loop flotation of one crude and four fines,the titanium concentrate with good index can be obtained,the TiO2 grade is 47.01% and the recovery rate is 74.79%,which successfully recovered the ilmenite recsource in the iron tailings,so that iron tailings have been fully utilized and the environmental pollution pressure caused by tailings has been reduced.At the same time,the successful recovery test of iron tailings also proves that the compound collector MQ has a better recovery effect on ilmenite and has a good application prospect.The mechanism study shows that ilmenite and compound collector MQ are mainly chemical adsorption.Infrared spectrum analysis shows that single collector MG-2 and QY can chemically adsorb on the surface of ilmenite.Zeta potential analysis shows that the Zeta potential of ilmenite is obviously negatively shifted when the single collector MG-2,QY and the compound collector MQ interacts with ilmenite,but the compound collector MQ has the strongest adsorption effect on ilmenite.The surface tension analysis shows that when the concentrate of the compounded collector MQ is 100 mg/L,an inflection point appears in the surface tension,whose concentrate is the critical micelle concentration.The contact angle analysis shows that the surface contact angle of ilmenite becomes larger when ilmenite interacts with the single collector MG-2,QY and the compound collector MQ.But the contact angle of ilmenite is the largest while illmenite interacts with the compound collector MQ,which indicates floatability of ilmenite is the best at this time and the result is consistent with pure mineral test.
