The excellent culture of the Chinese has been passed down to this day through material and spiritual inheritance. The characters and patterns on cultural relics, philosophies and beliefs in life, and every bit of them have laid the foundation and accumulated culture for thousands of years. From the perspective of costume civilization, the spiritual, cultural and political significance of the patterns of "Twelve chapters" in the slave society;Represented by the circulation of silk, the feudal society enriched and diversified the patterns by blending the different cultures. After the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the deepening of Neo-Confucianism,clothing patterns from the basic needs to meet more meaning;More and more patterns of social moral concepts, ethical concepts and even religious concepts are formed to form clear "auspicious patterns"...Since then, the patterns rich in symbolic meaning have been handed down from generation to generation as symbols of Chinese culture because of their beautiful connotations.Until now,we still use clothes to convey the common feelings among people and the culture of a nation. This paper collates and analyzes the meanings of the traditional patterns from the historical and cultural basis.By disconnecting the elements in the traditional patterns, the message is clearly conveyed, and by using modern design techniques, the typical patterns are re-created,so that the patterns with traditional Chinese culture are more suitable for use in the context of contemporary fashion. It tries to think and practice in a multi-dimensional and systematic way,so as to provide a reference scheme for more designs that need to use traditional patterns to spread Chinese culture.
