Polyester(PET)fabric has excellent advantages of good wear resistance,thermal stabilit y,deformation resistance,corrosion resistance and light resistance,and it has been widely used such as clothing,curtains and interior decoration etc.However,PET fabric belongs to combustible fibers,the limiting oxygen index(LOI)is only about 21%,and it will produce deadly smoke and a large number of droplets during combustion.Therefore,it was of great significance to research and develop high-efficiency and environment friendly flame retardant PET fabrics.In view of this,in this paper,a new type of environmentally friendly high-efficiency carbon-graphene aerogel(GA)was proposed for flame retardant modification of PET fabric,and the GA-based ammonium polyphosphate(APP)(GA-APP)integrated composite aerogel flame retardant was further constructed to realize the efficient flame retardant and smoke inhibition of PET fabrics.The main contents and results of the study are as follows:1.The effect of single GA on the flame retardant properties of PET fabrics was investiga ted.Firstly,GA was prepared by reducing self-assembly method and the morphology,molecular structure and thermal stability of GA material were characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM),infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray diffraction spectroscopy(XRD),X-ray photoelectron energy spectral(XPS)and thermogravimetric(TG).Then GA particles were applied on the PET fabric by hydrothermal reduction method,and the experimental parameters were discussed to optimize for the composite structure of GA/PET fabric.The influence of GA content on flame retardant of PET fabrics was analyzed by the LOI,vertical combustion test,and cone calorimeter(CONE)method.The research results showed that the optimum conditions for preparing GA were with the 5 mg/m L of graphene oxide(GO)concentration,the ratio of GO to ascorbic acid(LAA)as 1to 6,and the 100?of reduction temperature was.When the content of GA was 26.3%,the GA/PET fabrics had LOI value of 32.1%,but it failed to pass the B1 rating of the vertical combustion test.Compared with pure PET fabric,the char residue amount was as high as 18.7%at 700?,it increased by 50.8%.GA flame retardant has a significant effect in reducing thermal hazards.Compared with pure PET fabric,the peak heat release rate peak(PHRR)of GA/PET fabric has reduced from 147.55 k W/m~2 to 33.49 k W/m~2,decreased by 77.3%,The total heat release(THR)decreased from 3.2 MJ/m~2 to 1.0 MJ/m~2,decreased by 68.7%,and the total smoke production(TSP)decreased from 0.7 m~2 to 0.1 m~2.The above results indicated that GA can significantly improve the flame retardant and smoke suppression of PET fabric.2.The GA-APP integrated composite aerogel flame retardant was constructed and its effect on the flame retardant properties of PET fabric was studied.GA-APP integrated composite aerogel was prepared by hydrothermal reduction with the 3-aminopropyl triethoxy silane(KH550)as crosslinking agent,and PET fabric as substrate material.The effect of GA-APP structure on the flame retardant performance of PET fabric has been analyzed by means of LOI,UL-94,CONE,TG,XPS,etc.The results showed that,the ratio between reducing agents LAA and the addition of APP amount were two important factors affecting the composite structure of GA-APP.The optimal experiment parameters were that,the ratio of GO to APP was 2:1,and the ratio of GO to LAA was 1:4.Compared with GA/PET fabric,under the same amount of flame retardant,the LOI value of GA-APP/PET fabric was 34.5%,increased by 7.5%,and the vertical combustion test has passed the B1 rating.GA-APP flame retardant significa nt ly reduced the PHRR,THR,TSP,smoke release rate(SPR)and other parameters of the PET fabric.Among the HRR and THR has reduced by 82.8%and 75.0%respectively,and the TSP value has reduced from 0.7 m~2 to 0.1 m~2.Compared to pure PET fabric and GA/PET fabric,the char residue amount reached as high as 28.2%at 700?,with an increase of 128%and 50.6%,respectively.These indicated that GA-APP integrated aerogel further improved the flame retardant and inhibition of PET fabric.According to the above analysis,GA/PET fabric was prepared by simple and feasible hydrothermal reduction method.The addition of GA material has significant effect on reducing the thermal hazard of PET fabric.And the GA-APP integrated composite aerogel was constructed by combining GA with APP.The combustible agent significantly improved the thermal stability,flame retardant and smoke suppression properties of PET fabric.This has provided a technical and theoretical basis for the research of GA-based composite aerogel flame retardant fabrics.
