Over the past decade,supramolecular gels based on low molecular weight organogels(LMOG)have attracted much attention.Supramolecular gel systems are highly modifiable.By introducing different functional groups to change the structure of gelators,materials with different functions can be obtained.The application of LMOG in water environment restoration is one of the research hotspots in the field of materials.In this study,benzene 1,3,5-triformamide(BTA)was used as the base block for molecular design.3,5-Bis(octylaminocarbonyl)benzoic acid(2a),N-(1-naphthyl)-N',N”-di(n-octyl)benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxamide(3a)and N-(phenyl)-N',N”-di(noctyl)benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxamide(3b)were synthesized from trimethyl 1,3,5-phenyltricarboxylic acid,and characterized by NMR.The gel properties of these compounds were tested,and the influence of gelator structure on self-assembly driving force and gel rheological properties was studied by IR,UV and rheometer.In this paper,3a with the best performance was mainly studied.The studies show that 3a has excellent gelation behavior in various aromatic solvents,and the minimum gelation concentration is within the range of 0.7%(w/v)-2.1%(w/v).The morphology of the stable gels indicates the formation of a highly entangled fiber network in mesitylene and xylene.FT-IR studies reveale an evident role of intermolecular hydrogen bonding in the self-assembly process.UV studies show that ?-? interaction is the driving force for the gelator to form a gel.Rheological studies show that the gel formed by 3a is a "true" gel,and its mechanical properties are stronger than those of 2a.In this paper,the phase selectivity experiment was carried out,and it was proved that all the three kinds of molecules have the phase selectivity ability,among which 3a has the best performance.3a was applied in the powder form at 3.2%(w/v)in mesitylene and 4.2%(w/v)in xylene without heating,which has the potential value of room temperature application.The simulation experiment proved that 3a had the application prospect in the field of oil spill recovery with crude oil as the carrier solvent.In addition,3a was used as recyclable materials for removing toxic dyes from mixed solution of water and organics with efficiency as high as 99.5%.Therefore,this kind of gelator has the potential application value of water environment remediation.
