Polymer-based light-guiding fibers are suitable for constructing wearable information displays due to their lightness and softness,high light conductivity,durability,low cost,and easy processing.They can be applied to the fields of fashion,lighting,signal transmission,light therapy,sensing,and traffic warning.The current design of flexible light-guiding fibers has inherent insurmountable problems such as rigid state,difficult to mass produce,uncontrolled light conduction power,and uneven light emission.In this article,the author analyzes the characteristics of polymer light-guiding fibers based on the design of special optical fiber;studies the design methods of step-index type polymer light-guiding fibers and polymer light-guiding fibers doped with scattering particles.By controlling the structure and parameters of the polymer light-guiding fiber,the light field distribution and radiation loss of the light-guiding fibers are controlled,so that the simple design of the polymer light-emitting fiber with flexible state,easy to high-throughput produce,controllable light guide power,and the uniform light guide effect of the whole body becomes possible.The author first briefly introduced the current research status of polymer light-guiding fibers with defects introduced on the surface,curved polymer light-guiding fibers,variablecore-radius polymer light-guiding fibers,the polymer light-guiding fibers doped with scattering particles and the step-index polymer light-guiding fiber.The author compares and analyzes the advantages of light-guiding fiber which introducing scattering particle and stepindex polymer light-guiding fiber.Then the author derives and analyzes the light field mode theory of the light-guiding fibers,elaborates the solution method of the fiber mode field and the loss value.After fully investigating the pros and cons of each numerical simulation method,the finite element method is determined as the research method.Then the author introduced the COMSOL and MATLAB co-simulation based on the finite element method,and established the simulation analysis steps.Finally,the author explored the luminescence conditions and luminescence performance change trends of step-index type light-guiding fibers,the luminescence conditions and luminescence performance change trends of polymerbased light-guiding fibers doped with scattering nanoparticles,and the common law of lightguiding fibers,so as to provide theoretical guidance and technical reference for the optimal design of optical fiber.
