Polyacrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS)and high-impact polystyrene(HIPS)have excellent mechanical properties and processing properties,and have been widely used in electrical and electronic manufacturing and automobile manufacturing.The advancement of science and technology has accelerated the pace of replacement of electronic products,the shell of these products is mostly made up of ABS,HIPS,PS,PP and other thermoplastics,among which ABS and HIPS account for a large part.ABS and HIPS not only have similar density,but also have similar chemical properties,which makes it difficult to separate ABS and HIPS.Therefore,it is an important method to realize high-value recycling of ABS and HIPS by blending used ABS and HIPS to prepare composite materials.The appearance of ABS and HIPS will turn yellow and brittle after being used for a period of time,and the impact performance will be reduced,and the compatibility between waste ABS and waste HIPS is poor.In order to solve this problem,D-Glucose and hydroxylated styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer(hydroxylated SBS)were added to waste ABS/HIPS(rABS/rHIPS)composite materials,respectively.The comprehensive properties of rABS/rHIPS composites were improved by modifying the chain extension of waste ABS and HIPS and improving their compatibility.In this paper,the highly comprehensive rABS/rHIPS composite was prepared by the addition of D-Glucose.The macroscopic properties and microstructural changes of rABS/rHIPS composites were characterized using infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),nuclear magnetic resonance hydrogen spectroscopy(~1H-NMR),mechanical properties,dynamic mechanical properties(DMA),melting index(MFI),thermal weight analysis(TGA)and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The results showed that the addition of D-Glucose can improve the impact strength,flexural strength,tensile strength and elongation at break of rABS/rHIPS composites.When the addition of D-Glucose was 5wt%,the impact strength,tensile strength,and flexural strength of the rABS/rHIPS composite increased by 124%,14%,and 22%,respectively,while the fracture elongation also increased from 17.64%to 24%.After D-Glucose was added,the glass transition temperature(Tg)of styrene-acryronitrile(SAN)in rABS was close to that of polystyrene(PS)in rHIPS,indicating that the compatibility of rABS and rHIPS in rABS/rHIPS composites was improved.With the addition of D-Glucose,the storage modulus(G')and loss modulus(G'')was increased,the melt index was reduced and the fluidity is poor.SEM showed that the particle size of rubber phase decreased,which was due to the chemical reaction between the carboxyl groups generated after the aging of butadiene in ABS and HIPS and the hydroxyl group in D-Glucose,which improved the interfacial bonding strength of the two phases.Hydroxylated SBS was prepared by solution method,and the comprehensive rABS/rHIPS composite was prepared by adding SBS and hydroxylated SBS.SBS was used to control the modification effect of hydroxylated SBS.The macroscopic properties and microstructural changes of rABS/rHIPS composites were characterized by infrared spectral analysis(FTIR),NMR hydrogen spectroscopy(~1H-NMR),mechanical properties,dynamic mechanical properties(DMA),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),contact angle,melting index(MFI),thermal-weight analysis(TGA)and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The test results showed that the shock strength of SBS and hydroxylated SBS increased by 120%and 155%,the flexural strength by 6%and 14%,the fracture elongation by 28%and 69%,respectively,and the tensile strength decreased.The addition of SBS and hydroxylated SBS makes the Tg of SAN in rABS close to the Tg of PS in rHIPS and rHIPS,which also improves the compatibility of rABS/rHIPS composite compared with rABS/rHIPS/SBS,indicating that rABS/rHIPS/hydroxylated SBS is added by 5wt%.With the increase of hydroxylated SBS content,the contact Angle gradually increased,indicating that the polar groups generated by aging in the matrix decreased.The addition of SBS and hydroxylated SBS would reduce the melt index,and the MFI would be lower with the increase of hydroxylated SBS.SEM showed that the impact fracture surface presents the characteristics of ductile fracture with the addition of SBS.When the addition amount of hydroxylated SBS is 5wt%,the fracture surface presented the characteristics of ductile fracture,while the rubber particle size at the interface became smaller and more evenly distributed,without obvious phase interface,and the compatibility was improved.
