Accidents are frequent in the construction industry,and the safety production situation is severe.Both theoretical and practical perspectives of the cause of accidents show that the unsafe behavior of construction workers is the main cause of accidents.In order to reduce the occurrence of construction safety accidents,it is necessary to study the unsafe behavior of construction workers.Cognitive psychology shows that behavior is the result of cognition.If construction workers behave unsafe behavior,it must be a deviation in the cognitive process.It is necessary to study from the perspective of cognitive process.Due to the complexity and social nature of the work environment of construction workers,unsafe behaviors of construction workers are not only the result of isolated individual cognitive processes,but also the result of interaction with others.Managers,foremen,and co-workers all influence the behavior of construction workers.Therefore,this article considers both the individual cognitive process of construction workers and social interaction attributes,and studies the cognitive process of unsafe behaviors of construction workers under multi-agent interaction.By analyzing the influence of social groups and social organization factors on the cognitive process and unsafe behaviors of construction workers,reasonable suggestions are given to reduce unsafe behaviors.First of all,this article first sorted out the concepts and theories involved in the research,introduced theories related to worker cognition and behavioral safety,and laid the theoretical foundation for the full text.Secondly,through literature review and theoretical analysis,the five main types of individual cognitive factors that affect the cognitive process of construction workers are sorted out,and the influence of individual cognitive factors on the cognitive process of construction workers is analyzed.Subsequently,the five types of social organizational factors that affect the cognitive process of construction workers were sorted out,and three types of social groups were established: managers,foremen,and workers,and established a multi-agent interaction model of construction workers’ cognitive process.The initial value of the model is obtained through the combination of empirical data and site investigation,and MATLAB is used for simulation to obtain the baseline model.The regression analysis and Pearson correlation test are performed through SPSS software to establish the validation of the baseline model at the quantitative and qualitative levels.Subsequently,the model performed a series of simulations,and the results showed that:(1)With the interaction with managers,foremen,and workers,workers’ unsafe behaviors gradually decreased.(2)The foreman has the most important influence in reducing unsafe behaviors of workers,and his demonstration role cannot be ignored.(3)The cognitive process failure of construction workers is affected by various cognitive factors,and the causes of cognitive failure at different stages are different,and cognitive process errors could be corrected under social norms.(4)Among various social organizational factors,social identity has the greatest impact on reducing workers’ unsafe behaviors,and preventive measures are more effective than reactive measures in reducing workers’ unsafe behaviors.Based on theoretical analysis and empirical results,this article puts forward four suggestions for the cognitive reasons of construction workers’ unsafe behavior,the influence of social groups,and social organization factors.That is,it is proposed to give full play to the demonstration role of the foreman,establish good social norms,play the important and corrective role of social organizational factors in safety management,and take measures to reduce unsafe behaviors of workers in response to different causes of failure in the cognitive process.As a multi-agent simulation study of construction workers’ safety cognition,this paper provides a new perspective for the in-depth study of construction safety-related behaviors.Future research can build on this paper to further develop safety management tools,improve management levels,and reduce safety accidents.
