The paper carried out a study on the air pollutant emissions of 26 representative thermal power plants in Yulin,Shaanxi Province, and their impacts on the local atmospheric environment.Firstly, the activity level data of air pollutant treatment facilities in 26 thermal power plants before ultra-low emission(ULE)of(2015)and after ULE(2018),environmental statistics,CEMS online monitoring data, pollutant discharge permit data, environmental impact assessment data and other basic data were systematically collected.Secondly, based on the data,a high-resolution air pollutant emission inventory of 26 thermal power companies in Yulin was established to analyze air pollutant emissions, performance values, and atmospheric control measures of these thermal power plants. Finally, the CALPUFF model was used to simulate the impact of these 26 thermal power companies on the local atmospheric environment, and quantify the contribution of thermal power plants on various air quality monitoring sites(4state-controlled,12 provincial-controlled and municipal-controlled monitoring sites)in Yuyang District,Yulin. The result indicates that ULE of thermal power plants not only can directly reduce the total emissions, but also minimize the performance values of various pollutants.Compared to 2015,the total power generation of the 26 thermal power plants in 2018increased by 22.37%.However,the total emissions of air pollutants decreased significantly, for instance, the emissions of SO2,NOx,and particulate matter decreased by 58.06%,39.35%,and 44.00%,respectively.In terms of the calculation of performance values,it can be found that after ULE,the emission performance of SO2,NOx,and particulate matter(PM)has been respectively reduced by 65.72%,50.43%,and 54.23%.Moreover,although the thermal power industry has a large amount of air pollutants emission and its contribution to local emissions cannot be ignored, the air pollution from thermal power industry has a relatively little influence on the ambient air.The 26 thermal power companies included in the air emission inventory of the study accounted for 13.18%,30.83%,and 9.15%of the total emissions of SO2,NOx,and PM in Yulin in 2018.The percentages of the emissions of SO2,NOx,,and PM in Yulin in 2018 were 13.18%,30.83%,and 9.15%,respectively.Among them, the annual average concentration contribution of SO2,NO2,PM10,PM2.5 to the background concentration of four nationally-controlled sites in Yuyang District accounted for2.24~5.86%,1.26~2.75%,0.12~0.24%,0.28~0.58%,respectively.Meanwhile,for three provincial and municipal-controlled sites in Shenmu City and Fugu County, the annual average concentration contribution of SO2,NO2,PM10,PM2.5 to the background concentration are 2.12~2.66%,1.63~2.05%,0.12~0.17%,0.29~0.40%.
