Thanks to the fast-moving economic change,China’s urbanization process is developing rapidly, and people’s living standard is raised. But the contradiction between the rough urban expansion and the urban residents’ needs of community contacts is becoming more and more prominent. The Suzhou Industrial Park, which was constructed from 1994,has opened the door for Chinese cities to learn from Singapore’s urban planning experience and construct neighborhood centers. This paper takes the communication space of the neighborhood center of Suzhou Industrial Park as the research object.uses behavioral psychology-related theories and a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the communication space in the established neighborhood centers. In addition, from the point of view of architectural design, the principles and strategies of the communication space design of neighborhood centers are put forward. The full text is divided into three parts according to the structure of finding problems, analyzing problems and solving problems. The first part expounds the background, significance and method of the research, defines the object and scope of the research, and combs the relevant theoretical research and construction practice. The second part adopt a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches to the subject.Based on field research in the qualitative research section, according to its different location relationship with the building, the communication space is divided into three categories."the interior space of building with the nature of public communication","the external space subordinate to the building" and "outdoor open space".On this basis, the theory of behavioral psychology is introduced to observe and analyze the user’s behavioral needs and corresponding architectural design strategies in various types of communication spaces. The quantitative research part selected the Hanlin Neighborhood Center as the research object, which is more representative, using SD method to collect the data of the users psychological feeling in the communication space, and analyzed the psychological feelings of the respondents. On the basis of the results of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the preceding text, the third part of this article refined the needs of the communication space of the neighborhood center design, summarized the three design principles of diversity, continuity and culture, derived the five design strategies of facility perfection, functional compounding, space superposition, clear theme, and boundary extension.
