Research On The Trade In Mechanical And Electrical Products Between China And Ukraine

Mechanical and electrical industry is the pillar industry of China’s national economy.In recent years,the scale of China’s foreign trade has expanded rapidly,but the trade friction between China and the United States will lead to short-term fluctuations in trade.Therefore,China needs more extensive trade cooperation with other countries and regions.When seeking for a new partners,it is necessary to focus on the direction of Eastern Europe and the development of economic and trade relations with Eastern Europe and CIS countries.The mechanism of economic and trade cooperation between China and Ukraine is becoming more and more mature,and bilateral trade is developing rapidly.Among them,mechanical and electrical products are the first category of products exported by China to Ukraine,and China’s import from Ukraine also plays an important role in Ukrainian trade.In recent years,the trade volume of mechanical and electrical products between the two countries has made a rapid growth,but there are many negative factors that affect the trade,which leads to the trade fluctuations.As a result,China’s export of mechanical and electrical products in Ukraine and its share in China’s export trade are not high enough.Therefore,there is a large development space and opportunity for bilateral mechanical and electrical products trade.Therefore,it is necessary to comprehensively analyze how to maintain the stable development of the trade of mechanical and electrical products between China and Ukraine,reduce the factors hindering the trade,and further expand the trade scale.In addition,domestic and foreign scholars have not transferred the research perspective to the research of mechanical and electrical products trade between China and Ukraine,so it is necessary to pay high attention to this issue and conduct in-depth research,which is of great theoretical significance.First of all,this paper analyzes the scale and status of trade in mechanical and electrical products between China and Ukraine,commodity structure and problems faced.Secondly,based on the gravity model,this paper makes an empirical study on the influencing factors of China-Ukraine electromechanical products trade in 1996-2018.The results show that economic scale,geographical distance,population and trade openness all have the most significant impact on trade flows,while the impact of foreign investment and exchange rate is not obvious,and import tariff has no significant impact.Thirdly,by measuring the potential of bilateral trade in mechanical and electrical products,it is found that there is a huge potential space for expansion of bilateral trade in mechanical and electrical products,and the potential development is relatively stable.Except for the beginning of trade cooperation between the two countries in 1997-2002,the potential of export trade in other years shows a steady upward trend.Comparing the trade potential of mechanical and electrical products of the two countries with that of other major partner countries,Ukraine ranked eighth in the export potential and third in the import and total trade.Finally,according to the results of empirical research,the paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to expand the trade of mechanical and electrical products between the two countries: improving the business environment of the two countries,optimizing logistics,reducing customs duties,simplifying customs formalities,expanding production investment,optimizing trade structure,strengthening complementarity,improving innovation ability and quality.
