In recent years, the aviation industry has developed rapidly, and strong economic growth has driven more demand in the civil aviation transportation market, and has also boosted business travel, family visits and cargo transportation needs.Compared with the increasing number of flights, airports of a certain size carry more aircraft, which will lead to airport congestion to a certain extent,so the relationship between flight frequency and airport size has caused us to think. The choice of airline network structure and flight frequency by airlines will not only affect company profits, but also have certain effects on government-related decisions and social welfare. In the fully-connected and hub-and-spoke structures, this article mainly studies the airlines’ choice of balanced flight frequencies and profit comparisons, and conducts an analysis of social welfare.First of all, this article briefly introduces the current development of China’s aviation industry, explains the research ideas and significance of this article and summarizes the research of scholars at home and abroad; The second part describes the influencing factors of route structure and the premise of model construction.Based on this, this paper constructs the utility functions of consumers, airlines and governments and the social welfare function in the two route network structures. This paper calculates the frequency partial derivative of the airline profit function and found the equilibrium frequency is higher under the hub-and-spoke configurations. This paper also separately derive partial derivatives for the frequency and runway of the social welfare function, the functions in the two structures are sorted and differentiated from the airline and social perspectives. The results show that despite the higher congestion costs, airlines still tend to choose hub-and-spoke structures, and this inefficient choice may conflict with the results of optimal social welfare; Finally, according to the results of the model analysis, relevant suggestions are proposed for the government’s airport scale and airlines’ route structure selection.
