China’s high-speed railway mileage ranks first in the world, and the development of high-speed railway has changed the role of railway and civil aviation in the competitive relationship.Wuhan is rich in water, land and air transportation resources. The developed high-speed rail network makes high-speed rail transportation have a substitution effect on Wuhan’s civil aviation transportation. The competition between high-speed rail and civil aviation is gradually becoming apparent.Based on this background, this paper studies the competitive relationship between Wuhan’s high-speed rail and civil aviation, with a view to exploring the spatial pattern of passenger supply of Wuhan’s high-speed rail and civil aviation, coordinating the development of Wuhan’s high-speed rail and civil aviation, and making full use of the combined benefits of high-speed rail and civil aviation. The research scope of this article is the whole country(including Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan),and the research object is the space provided by Wuhan high-speed rail and civil aviation passenger transportation. From the two dimensions of service hinterland competition and time window competition, the research on the spatial pattern and competition relationship between Wuhan high-speed rail and civil aviation passenger transportation is carried out.First of all,the basic research of domestic and foreign literature is carried out from three aspects: the spatial connection characteristics and influence of highspeed rail, civil aviation passenger flow and the competitive relationship between highspeed rail and civil aviation. Then, from the dimension of service hinterland, define the spatial pattern and overall differences in the supply of Wuhan high-speed rail and civil aviation passenger transportation, identify the competitive space in service hinterland and clarify the types of competitive spatial relations, and explore the relationship between types of competitive spatial relations and economic, population, and spatial distance factors. Then, from the time window dimension, define the spatial distribution and overall difference of Wuhan high-speed rail and civil aviation passenger transportation, identify the competition time window and competition space and clarify the type of competition space relationship, and explore the relationship between supply and demand status and competition space relationship type according to the questionnaire. Finally, combined with the previous research content, the coordination strategy of space competition between Wuhan high-speed railway and civil aviation passenger transportation is put forward from the perspective of space-time.The main research conclusions of this paper are as follows:①There are differences in the spatial structure of the service hinterland between Wuhan’s high-speed rail and civil aviation, both of which present a "patchy" agglomeration.②There are 46 competition spaces in the hinterland of Wuhan high-speed railway and civil aviation service, and the spatial distribution is relatively scattered.③Economic and demographic factors have a medium to strong positive correlation with the average daily frequency of high-speed rail and civil aviation. The range of 684-1046 km is the range of concentrated competition distance.④The spatial characteristics of high-speed rail and civil aviation supply in each time window show a dynamic change pattern, and the supply space in the peak time window is large;high-speed rail connections are mostly located in the province, and there are many links outside the province.⑤There are 4 time windows of perfect competition relationship between Wuhan High Speed Rail and civil aviation passenger transportation, and 21 cities of perfect competition relationship.⑥In the four time windows of perfect competition relationship,high-speed rail and civil aviation have not reached full market share, and complementary coordination and competition coexist.⑦The coordination of the competition between high-speed rail and civil aviation passenger transportation can be carried out from three aspects: service optimization, flight reorganization, and air-rail combined transportation.
