As the main driving force of economic development,innovation-driven plays a decisive role in the industry market competition.The report of the 19 th National Congress also emphasized that China will enter the forefront of innovative countries in2035 and become a world power in 2050.As the pillar industry,construction industry must play an important role and take the road of innovation-driven development.However,the construction industry is labor-intensive and its development is constrained by resources.So how to realize the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry through innovation-driven has become an urgent problem to be solved.This paper combines the current status of innovation driving ability of China’s construction industry,and uses stochastic frontier analysis method to measure the total productivity of the construction industry.All regions are divided into three parts according to the measurement results,and analyzes TFP growth and its composition from a national and regional perspective.According to the literature review,the selected innovation factors include technological innovation,institutional factors,entrepreneurship,levels of production factors,levels of resource agglomeration,demand conditions,and profitability.The empirical research is conducted through a panel smooth transition model about the impact of factors on the innovation performance of the construction industry.Finally,specific suggestions for promoting innovation-driven development in the construction industry are put forward.The empirical conclusions are as follows:(1)This is a significant fluctuation in the TFP growth rate of the national construction industry.Technological progress is the main driving force for innovation and development.The secondary driving force is the growth rate of allocation efficiency,while the resistance is the increase in technical efficiency and scale efficiency.There are significant differences in the TFP growth rates of the three major regions,and the TFP growth rates are generally relatively low.(2)Through the investment in science and technology to improve the conversion rate of scientific and technological achievements,and pay attention to the investment and cultivation of high-quality talents,grasp the key driving factors to enhance the innovation ability,so as to promote the development of innovation driven in the construction industry..(3)The differences in the three major regions are mainly manifested in the ways and intensity of each driving factor’s effect on technological progress.Based on the results of empirical research,this article puts forward the corresponding policy recommendations:(1)Through the organic combination of the market and the government,and pay attention to the investment and cultivation of high-quality talents,grasp the key driving factors to enhance the innovation ability,and take the road of construction industrialization,so as to promote the development of the innovation driving of the construction industry.(2)Different regions propose different countermeasures based on local resource endowments,and urban positioning,effectively promoting innovation-driven development in the construction industry...
