Study On The Renewal Strategy Of Public Space Based On Children’s Participation

The rapid speed of urban planning has brought tremendous changes to people’s lifestyles,but at the same time,it has deprived spaces for children that they can be free to play.Adolescents are physically and psychologically inferior to adults,and the demand for activity space in cities is often neglected.Even though the banausic living standard of children in modern cities has been greatly developed and improved,more and more playground for youth’s action has led to a sharp decline in children’s abilities of physical fitness,teamwork,innovation,independent observation,attention,and imagination.Some studies have shown that more outdoor activities can promote the development of children’s various talents.The community is the most direct "link" for youth to connect with city.As a necessary gateway for children to go out,the community is also the most close and familiar social place for kids.Common space of community is an important element for the planning of child-friendly cities.The existing community public spaces mostly adopt the method of development which named “KFC”.The children’s activity space designed from the perspective of adults lacks the actual implementation of youth’s outdoor needs and faces the challenge of renewal.Shenzhen and Changsha have pioneered the planning and exploration of "child-friendly cities",focusing on the development of public spaces at the spatial level,so how to restore children’s play in public spaces,especially the construction of children’s spontaneous and creative The game place is very important today when "child-friendly cities" become the focus and research topics of urban planning.This study takes the opportunity of community public space renewal as an opportunity to implement the child ’s perspective instead of the adult ’s perspective from the perspective of children ’s participation,implements the needs of children,improves the appeal of children ’s games in community public spaces,and explores strategies for community public space renewal based on child participation.First of all,this study starts from the background significance of research,as well as related research on children’s participation and community public space renewal,in order to determine research ideas and methods of this paper.Moreover,this study considered the theoretical basis of children’s participation from the perspectives of public participation theory,children’s rights convention,and child-friendly city theory.Based on the children’s participation ladder theory,combined with the factors of children’s participation in practical operation,three stages of effective participation of children are proposed.Meanwhile,according to the basic knowledge of children’s participation in space renewal,the domestic and foreign cases of children’s participation in the planning of public space are elaborated,combined with actual effects and comments,and the main points of public space renewal based on children’s participation are summarized.Finally,the study analyzes the current situation of community children’s playground,selects three spatial dimensions of community public space points,lines,and areas according to the points of youth’s participation in updating,carries out experiments for children’s participation in public space updating,and improves the operation mode of children’s participation.According to the practical exploration of children’s participation in community public space,a strategy for children’s participation in community public space renewal is proposed.At the same time,based on the construction of a child-friendly city in Changsha,the possibility of involving children in city construction is discussed,as well as the prospect of future child-friendly spaces.
