Hand-held laser rangefinder is a standard measuring instrument commonly used in industrial field on account of its high accuracy.For ensuring that the metrological characteristics of hand-held laser rangefinder accord with the requirement of JJG 966-2010 procedure,the measuring and testing department should carry out the verification process periodically.With the development of technology,the automation of measurement become more and more mature.For the sake of solving the shortcomings of traditional verification scheme of 50 meters verification range,such as low accuracy,low efficiency and high labor intensity,a new scheme of the automated verification system of hand-held laser rangefinder has been proposed by our group.Besides,the design,the manufacture,the installation and the debugging of the new verification system have been accomplished and the system has been delivered to the project party.The principal workload of this paper will be shown at the following three aspects:1.The design of verification schemeIn this paper,the measurement model of the new verification system will be constructed,as while as the new verification scheme will be established.Besides,the error of the measurement model will be analyzed in theory.What’s more,the complete verification system framework will be built.2.The fabrication of measuring deviceThere are still many key problems in the measuring device of verification system.For example,the contradiction between the image preprocessing algorithm and the target scale localization algorithm,the parking precision of the measuring tackle,the implementation details of the network communication program,and the security and stability of the measuring tackle.Moreover,the new scheme also includes a laser target remote observation system and an integrated solution of electrical control.The former aims at facilitating the laser rangefinder to search for the target in a long distance,which will be solved by the mean of secondary programing with a zoomable camera.The latter aims at ensuring the measuring system steady and durable.3.The fabrication of digital character recognition of laser rangefinderIn order to propel the progress of the automation of verification system,the Optical Character Recognition technology will be adopted to recognize the laser rangefinder’s readings.The artificial neural network will be applied on account of its convenience.At the beginning,the pictures will be pretreated,and be put into neural network for training.When it’s time for verifying,the target digit in the region of interest will be extracted by the industrial camera and recognized by the host computer.
