Evaluation Of Walking Experience Of Old Community Roads Under The Background Of Urban Renewal

In the process of urbanization in China,urban renewal is an important measure to improve urban function and livability,and old communities are the primary targets of urban renewal,including the improvement of infrastructure,the improvement of modern functions and the reconstruction of community culture.Additionally,as a network of transportation,communication and community vitality,the road pedestrian system in old communities are particularly urgent to update.As the representative of China’s mega-cities,the old community problems in Shanghai are more prominent,and the community road pedestrian system has become an important task of urban renewal.Taking Caoyang New Village in Shanghai as an example,based on Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP),this study comprehensively evaluates the quality of walking experience of 20 community roads qualitatively and quantitatively by using data collecting methods such as field survey and open source data acquisition,data processing methods such as Grasshopper calculation,Depthmap calculation and Tensor Flow street scene semantic segmentation.Besides,Grasshopper is also used to visualize the evaluation results.Based on the evaluation results,this study puts forward some suggestions to improve the community road walking experience,hoping to provide reference for the renewal of the old community walking system.The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)By using Depthmap agent model and Wechat mini app named Miaoyanxiangxian to simulate and measure the human flow distribution in Caoyang New Village,it is found that the spatial distribution of residents’ walking behavior is mainly demand-oriented.Based on this conclusion,through literature research and questionnaire survey,the influencing factors with high correlation are screened from the physical space perspective.Under the guidance of the AHP method,the evaluation model of community road walking experience is constructed by calculating the weight of the index through expert scoring.The results show that the contribution value of the quality of walking experience is ranked as safety(0.5570)>convenience(0.2407)> Comfort(0.2023).(2)At present,the score of road experience quality in Caoyang New Village is convenience > comfort > safety.The average value of convenience is 3.69,which belongs to grade II(good),and the difference among road sections is small,and there are 0.34% of grade I(excellent)sections.The average value of safety is 3.44,which belongs to grade III(middle),and the difference among road sections is also small.The average value of comfort is 3.53,which belongs to grade II(good);there are great differences among road sections,but compared with convenience and safety,comfort has more class I(excellent)sections,accounting for 1.20%.(3)The overall quality of walking experience of Caoyang New Village is at a moderate level,with an average score of 3.53,which belongs to grade II(good).Although there are excellent experiences in individual sections,the scores of different sections and roads differ greatly,which can be summarized as follows: the best experience is in community center;the experience in the southern part of the community is better than that in the northern part of the community;the experience in the western part of the community is superior to that in the eastern part of the community.(4)Based on the analysis of the current situation and characteristics of the pedestrian space in Caoyang New Village and the result of the evaluation of the walking experience,the study puts forward some suggestions for optimization and improvement from three aspects: the overall promotion strategy,the promotion strategy for the elderly and the construction of "shared street",aiming at building a higher standard pedestrian environment.
