Research On The Causal Mechanism Of Taiyuan Residents’ Behavior Intention To Stormwater Utilization

As one of the first innovation demonstration areas for the sustainable development agenda in China,Taiyuan City,in terms of sustainable development of water resources,takes stormwater reuse as a new idea to solve the urban waterlogging and water shortage.As a new alternative water source,whether stormwater can be generally accepted by residents of Taiyuan City is a key issue restricting stormwater utilization projects.Therefore,it is of important reference significance for government decision-making to understand residents’ behavior intention of stormwater utilization and its influencing mechanism.In view of this,this article from the perspective of residents,combined with the characteristics of stormwater utilization by residents of Taiyuan City,specifically subdivides the uses of stormwater reuse into eight uses such as personal washing,washing clothes,cleaning pet,watering flowers,washing cars,flushing toilets,watering the lawn,spraying roads and other eight uses,focusing on the causal influence mechanism of Taiyuan residents’ behavioral intentions for these eight uses.Based on the theory of planned behavior and related literature,this paper mainly extracts attitudes,emotions,health risk perception,trust in the government,environmental concern and social norms as the influencing factors of residents’ behavior intentions,and then based on the data collected by the questionnaire survey,the necessary condition analysis method(NCA)and the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method(fs QCA)are used to comprehensively analyze the necessary and sufficient conditions for the generation of behavior intentions.The results show:(1)In the necessary condition analysis results,in addition to road spraying,environmental concern is one of the necessary conditions for residents’ stormwater utilization behavior intention;For cleaning pet,washing car,flushing toilet,watering the lawn,and spraying road,social norms are one of the necessary conditions for residents’ behavioral intentions of stormwater utilization;(2)In the results of sufficient condition analysis,the configuration analysis results of behavioral intention for different uses are also different: the configuration of residents’ personal washing behavior intentions mainly includes social norms and non-health risk perception;the configuration of residents’ intention to wash clothes includes social norms,non-negative emotions,and social norms-non-negative emotions;the configuration of residents’ intentions for cleaning pet include environmental concerns-non-health risk perception,environmental concerns-non-negative emotions,and environmental concerns-social norms;the configuration of residents’ intention to water flowers includes environmental concerns-social norms and social norms;the configuration of residents’ intention to wash cars includes attitude-environmental concern-social norms,trust to the governmentenvironmental concern-social norms;the configuration of residents’ intention to flush toilets includes environmental concerns-social norms and social norms;the configuration of residents’ intention to water the lawn is environmental concern;the configuration of residents’ intention of spraying road mainly includes environmental concerns-social norms and social norms.The results of the research will help the government to take appropriate measures to better guide the stormwater reuse behavior of residents in Taiyuan City.
