At the background of economic globalization,manufacturing companies are facing huge market challenges.To improve the competitiveness of an enterprise in the highly competitive global market,it is necessary to output products stably and efficiently.In manufacturing,the overall efficiency of manufacturing is closely related to the issue of production line balancing.Production line balancing is the theory and method of balancing all processes of a whole production line and adjusting the assignment of work elements in the workplace,so that the sum of time of each work element in the workplace is as equal as possible to achieve the effect of workplace balancing.Through a one-year internship experience in Company N,this article uses genetic algorithm to optimize the production line based on the current situation of the first-line electric vehicle chassis assembly line in Company N.By comparing the results before and after optimization,it is proved that the effectiveness of genetic algorithm in solving the balance problem of the production line,which is of practical significance for enterprises to improve their own production efficiency and increase their competitiveness in the market.Firstly,through the actual observation and inquiry of the first-line process flow of electric vehicle chassis assembly of Company N,the specific content of the operation elements and workstation allocation of this production line were obtained.It is determined that certain job elements have workstation-limited constraints.The time required for each operation element and the working time of each workstation were actually measured.Analyze these production statuses by industrial engineering theory to clarify the existing problems and optimization direction of this production line.According to the measured and observed data,the production tempo constraints and the sequential constraints of the operation elements are set,which provide data support for the use of genetic algorithms to solve problems.Then,based on the basic principle of genetic algorithm,the optimization framework and the actual situation of the problem,the genetic algorithm optimization framework and steps are built and the implementation ideas and steps of each process of genetic algorithm are proposed.MATLAB software is used to implement the algorithm,and a simple example is given to preliminarily verify the feasibility of the algorithm.Finally,two optimization schemes with different objectives are calculated for the electric vehicle chassis assembly production first-line of Company N.The scheme is fine-tuned according to the workstation limit constraints of the work elements,and the assignment of operation elements of the two schemes are described specifically.A comprehensive comparison of various parameters and workstation times between the two optimization schemes and the current status of the production line proves that the optimization schemes do make the production line more balanced and efficient,and improve the efficiency of Company N.
