The purpose of this research is to prove a thermodynamic model to simulate the concept of solar and coal hybrid power generation system, which is one of the new ways to increase the power output of power generation system,to improve the operating performance and to reduce coal consumption. In many ways related to power engineering research have studied different methods to improve the operation performance of power plants with regarding to coal consumption and reducing environmental impact. In this study research,a typical 150MW coal-fired power plant in Sihanouk,Cambodia was selected as a case study. The integrating parabolic trough collector solar field to the operating performance of 150MW coal-fired power plants can be improved. The detailed model of the coal-fired power plant is designed to calculate energy efficiency of its component. The solar heat at about 395℃ is used to replace the steam extracted from the first high-pressure steam turbine to preheat the feed water and then travels to the boiler economizer.Based on analysis of the calculation of sun angles and weather data is including in this study.Simulated results show that the operating performance of solar and coal hybrid power generation system reached a design-point value during the dry season. At the design-point condition, the fuel consumption is reduced by 2.3 tons per hour and the power output is increased by 4.8MW per hour due to the operation fuel-saving and power boosting mode.
