Design And Implementation Of Network Performance Analysis Module For QualNet

Recently,the capability of constructing a battlefield communication network with strong information transmission ability is the basis of the network centric warfare.While applying network simulation technology to analyzing and evaluating the performance of the designed network system can quantitatively describe the complex network system behavior,and is an effective way for quantitative monitoring and management the network system.QualNet is a network simulation software with fast speed and high fidelity.It can be applied to the simulation of wireless and wired dynamic networks,which is also the main simulation platform for the US network centric warfare and future combat system.In the previous works,the application of QualNet in network performance analysis mostly focused on the analysis of protocol or algorithm performance.However,researches on the performance analysis of the designed network are relatively scarce.In order to monitor the network performance of the target network at real time and have a quantitative assessment of the overall performance of the designed network,this paper proposed a QualNet oriented network performance analysis architecture.In this architecture,a network performance analysis software based on Qt GUI application development framework and an information interaction interface based on RTI-DDS network middleware were designed and implemented.And this interface enables the QualNet network simulation software communicate with the network performance analysis software.Experiment results show that this QualNet based network performance analysis module can successfully analyze and display the performance indexes of the network system of the QualNet simulation scene network at real time,obtain the whole network efficiency value of the target network through the calculation of the network performance analysis and evaluation model,and insert the network performance information data of each simulation into the database,which enables offline analysis after the simulation.The above technologies will be an efficient support for the application of network simulation in network performance analysis.
